Become an NC Handmade artisan

How to have work featured on our site?

Simply fill out the NC Handmade artisan application, and submit it with a few photographs of the work you would like to feature. We will review it and respond within 14 days. If accepted, we will schedule a Zoom meeting to discuss pieces that would be appropriate for the website and to answer any other questions you may have about our service.

How long will it be featured on NC Handmade?

NC Handmade features artwork for one year from the day the artisan’s first product is posted on NC Handmade. Artisans can renew participation annually.

How is the work promoted?

We promote artisans through regular posting on  InstagramFacebookPinterestTwitter,  YouTube  and LinkedIn; constant but respectful contact with our customers through our newsletter; and occasional live conversations/studio tours with our artisans.

What are NC Handmade's fees and commissions?

We charge a commission fee at the following levels: 

  • 25% commission fee per item sold at $500 or less
  • 20% commission fee per item sold for more than $500 

As part of our services, we collect sales tax at the time of sale and report and pay it to the state for you.

How quickly will I be paid?

We process payments to artisans electronically (45 business days after each sale) to account for returned items. Special accommodations may be made for artisans who wish to be paid by check, but this may cause delays in receiving your payment.
